AC Charrette - Video Summary

imageOn Friday, March 27, the Long-Range Plan Advisory Committee met for six-hours - a “charrette” workshop to catch up on the process to date, including community input on vision, strategies presented at the plan concepts workshop, and more.

Here’s a summary of what was shown and discussed at that meeting - plus information on what will be presented at the upcoming workshop series on April 22 and 23rd. At just over 22 minutes, it’s long for an on-line video, but there’s a lot of good information covered, and it’s a great way to catch up on most of the key issues the plan will address.

"Plan 101" Video

imageComprehensive plans are fairly well-named, since they establish policy for so much of what communities do.

So it’s no easy matter to understand - or even learn about - all of the issues and matters that make a comprehensive long-range plan tick. But with today’s communications tools, it’s easier than ever to help inform citizens about many of the key considerations that will play an important role in Southern Pines’ planning future.

Here’s the first of several videos we’ll produce during the course of the process. It’s a short movie - about six and a half minutes total - but covers the basics on:

• What a plan does
• What’s transpired in the Southern Pines process so far
• Growth projections for Moore County
• Many of the typical land-use constraints that will shape the plan

Click the link below to watch, and feel free to download and save it for review. Be sure you’ve got QuickTime® installed to view, check out the link on the lower right-hand side of this page if you don’t. Leave a comment if you like using the “comments” tools. And of course, the video includes an invitation to the next community workshop, scheduled for Thursday, February 12.
